At UNSW International House, four formal dinners are held each year. They are the Opening Dinner, Session 1 Closing Dinner, the Foundation Day Dinner and the Valedictory Dinner. The Session 1 Closing Dinner is traditionally held on the Friday of the last academic week in session 1.

In the night, the Social Awards was presented, the Awards was given to residents had been active and popular amount the college community during the semester.

As the last major social event held before the examination period, the Session 1 Closing Dinner was also a farewell as some of the residents were graduating and leaving the House.
