The annual Harbour Cruise organized by IH RESOC was done with a twist this year. A boat was chartered and loaded full with residents, and subsequently brought out to Sydney Harbour so that its passengers may take in the full view of the panoramic sights offered by picturesque Sydney. While not missing the usual landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, the boat this year brought the unsuspecting residents to a little known cove hidden away in the remote north of the Harbour, a park known as Clifton Garden, complete with grassy fields, a playground, a private swimming area, an entrance by jetty, a place for fishing, and even an ice cream truck.
The residents had a picnic in Clifton Gardens for most of the day, and as it was close to the Easter Season, RESOC committee members took the initiative to hide Easter Eggs before the residents arrived. A treasure hunt then took place while the picnic was going on, and it was quite a sight watching the residents scrambling for the Easter Eggs, even digging in the sand and climbing trees, with three iPod shuffles up for grabs as the prizes offered.
With plenty of opportunities for the residents to eat, play and socialize, it was definitely a memorable event. We all returned to college tired but extremely happy.
