International House Mentors
.JPG)
The International House Industry Mentors Program
is a new and unique activity. Established in 2005 it is designed
to facilitate IH residents’ transition from university life
to the ‘Real World’. The program is unique as it involves
ex-residents returning to meet with current residents who are studying
the same or similar degree and providing them with advice and assistance.
Mentors will share experiences, provide insights into their chosen
profession, answer questions and be of as much assistance as possible.
The program is particularly unique as it involves professionals
with extensive work experiencing serving as mentors to those who
will soon be entering the particular profession. While there are
many peer mentoring and academic mentoring programs very few industry
mentor programs exist.
Commencing in 2006 the International House Industry Mentoring Program
will include the five academic disciplines listed below. Depending
on demand mentoring groups may vary in size and number and often
will include more than one industry mentor per group. The first
group meetings for all of the mentoring sessions for 2006 will be
held on Saturday 29 April 2:30pm to 4:00pm at various locations
around the College. Residents may register in the International
House office to join a mentoring group. Alumni who are interested
in serving as mentors are encouraged to contact the Master of the
House, Dr Robert C Lundy.
