The International House Alumni Association needs your assistance and there are many ways that you can help and be a part of the House:
Student Mentors
Current residents, particularly those studying in the professions of Medicine, Law, Engineering, Built Environment, Sciences and Business, would greatly benefit by having an industry or academic mentor to guide them in their studies and career aspirations. Assistance could be in the form of providing guidance in their study and progress through their course, advice on study resources, guidance in developing their career aspirations, and providing advice in career and further education pathways.
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship committee is responsible for the process of assessing applications, conducting interviews, and recommending applicants for the UNSW International Scholarship. Assistance could be in the form of being a member of the committee and participating in the formation of policy and awarding of the scholarships.
Community Service
International House residents have formed a Charity Club (IHCC) which is committed to serving those in the community who are disadvantaged and in need of assistance. Past activities have included assisting the Gateway Children's Home, Wesley Mission, and World Vision. Assistance could be in the form of participating in the committee providing ideas and assisting the students with liaison with appropriate organisations that might be of need of this volunteer service.
Legal Committee
As the IH Alumni becomes more active, it will be important to design a constitution and frame work for the UNSW International House Alumni Association and the various committees such as those above. Assistance could be in the form of helping to draft an appropriate constitution and become office holding bearers in an alumni association management committee.
Fundraising Committee
With the establishment of the IH Alumni Association and the various committees such as scholarships and community service fundraising will become increasingly important. Assistance could be in the form of being a member of the committee and helping the College and Alumni Association with philanthropy.
Social & Cultural Committee
We would like to organise more social and cultural events for alumni and current residents such as the annual alumni reception. Assistance could be in the form of being a member of the committee and participating with the organisation of various activities.
Communications Committee
To keep the organisation running it will be important to establish a Communications Committee. The committee could prepare newsletters, webpage and other forms of communication for IH alumni. Assistance could be in the form of participating in the committee and providing ideas and assisting with various projects.
