Message from the Master

It is a great privilege for me to welcome
you to International House. International House is home away from
home for 166 residents from Australia and overseas. During the past
35 years residents from over 80 countries have stayed at the College
before moving on to distinguished careers. Many have remained in
touch with the College and with other residents through our Alumni
Association creating an important network of professional and personal
contacts.
The Rotary Club established the College in 1968 in an effort to foster
the values of ‘International Understanding’. We strive
to achieve the goals of the House by providing opportunities for residents
to belong to a unique collegiate community that emphasises experiential
learning, personal growth and cross-cultural understanding.
The College provides an ideal atmosphere for students seeking a quiet
and mature environment as well as the opportunity to meet and become
involved with friendly students from all over the world. International
House is renowned for its attractive setting and excellent meals.
The College food service provides three meals a day with a western
and Asian option available for the evening meal.
Community living can be a rewarding experience but it requires each
member to be considerate and tolerant of each other. It is our desire
to have as few rules as possible and to be guided by the basic principle
of respect and tolerance to others. We ask residents to respect the
needs of their neighbours and to resolve any differences through constructive
dialogue.
We encourage you get involved with the many activities of the House
and thus make your University experience more enjoyable and beneficial.
Dr Robert C Lundy (BSc Indiana State, MA Pacific Lutheran, EdD Oregon State)
